Green is a color I really need to stare at now cause staring too much at the monitar is not good. Staring at green is supposed to be good for the eye. How much is that true ? I don’t know. Anyway, speaking or typing about Green reminded me of the event I’ve  circled on my calendar and would like to share with you all. It’s not always that you get events happening anywhere near or around Ipoh. Well…. good news… Project Revive will be having their Green Living Activities at Teluk Batik Lumut.

Date :  11th and 12th June, 2010

Day :  Friday and Saturday

Time :  8am to 9pm

It’s the end of the month again. How time flies. And what do you know ? Today is Arbor Day.

What is Arbor Day ? Arbor Day was founded in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska City, Nebraska. By the 1920s, each state in the United States had passed public laws that stipulated a certain day to be Arbor Day or Arbor and Bird Day observance.

The national holiday is celebrated every year on the last Friday in April; in Nebraska, it is a civic holiday. Each state celebrates its own state holiday. The customary observance is to plant a tree. On the first Arbor Day, April 10, 1872, an estimated one million trees were planted.

Eventhough Arbor Day is a national day in Nebraska, I think everyone should celebrate Arbor Day. Send everyone of your contact a Arbor Day e-card. We should be treehugging rather than tree chopping. At the home front, there’s Tree planting at Bukit Kinding Resort, Chemor tomorrow (1st May 2010). Check more at Star Ipoh Diary.

Let’s go tree planting and tree hugging.

This blog is NOT about the politics in Perak. But instead I am more interested in the TREE. Yes, the rain tree that was used by the Perak Assemblyman to hold an emergency meeting on the 03.03.2009.

Feedback from some of the country top leaders is to ridicule the tree assembly. Truth be told, I was frustrated by everything that has been happening here. Being an ordinary folk who lived here for more than 15 years, this town is now the laughing stock not because of what happened beneath the “rain tree” but the “comedy of error”. This blog pay Tribute to this beautiful tree for doing what others cannot do for the people of Perak ~ Shelter from INJUSTICE.

I was not present at the eventful day but saw it in TV. Yesterday, I had to attend some business in the area and decided to photograph the Rain Tree that inspired many Malaysian and given us back a little hope of democracy. That tree remind us that the situation may be helpless but not hopeless. At the end of the historic day, the tree was given the name ~ Tree of Democracy.

Here, I would like to call upon all tree lovers, greenie, nature lover, environmentalist, naturalist etc to pay tribute to this beautiful tree. Why ? Because it is an inspiration to all. My way of venting out my frustration is to make a little poster as my tribute to this tree. Anyone who ridicule the tree do not understand the importance of tree in our “Asian values”. read more about tree here.
